South Africa were 4 down on just 49 runs in their second innings during the chase of 417 and Australia were expected to run through their line-up and wrap up the game. But the duo of Aiden Markram and Theunis de Bruyn proved to be a thorn in the flesh for the visitors and added 87 in almost 26 overs. Even the Australians didn’t expect for them to stuck it out in the middle and were visibly frustrated.

Mitchell Starc, however, tried to disturb De Bruyn by sledging after he came back for a new spell. He constantly chirped words by looking at the batsman who was defending and leaving the balls according to its merit. The battle, however, was won by De Bruyn as he showed nerves of steel and drove beautifully during his stay in the middle. In the end, it was Josh Hazlewood who scalped him and broke the frustrating stand for the Aussies.
