India took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the 6-match ODI series against the South Africans with a commanding win in the Cape Town ODI. The Indian skipper Virat Kohli led from the front with an unbeaten knock of 160 runs to help his side to post a 300+ total. The wrist spinners did their job once again as the home side accumulated only 179 runs in 40 overs losing the game by a huge 124 runs. Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav picked up four wickets each as the Saffers never looked coming close to the Indians.
All the stats and numbers that were created during India’s dominating win over South Africa:
1 – For the first time in Indian ODI history, two spinners took 4-wicket hauls in the same game. Overall, this is the 5th time where two spinners took 4-fers for a team in an ODI. Chahal-Kuldeep equalled their eight-wicket effort during the 2nd ODI game.
1 – South Africa lost the first three matches of an ODI series at home for the first time. This is also the first time they won’t win a bilateral ODI series at home against India.

3 – Number of spinners with ten and more wickets in a bilateral ODI series in South Africa before this series. Yuzvendra Chahal bagged 11 wickets so far while Kuldeep Yadav took ten wickets with at least three wickets in all the three matches.
4 – Yuzvendra Chahal became the 4th Indian spinner to take four and more wickets in consecutive ODIs. Narendra Hirwani (3 in a row), Sachin Tendulkar and Ravindra Jadeja were the other three with this feat.
9 – Number of consecutive ODI wins for India away from home. This is the first time India won nine consecutive ODIs outside the home. India won eight ODIs in a row outside the home on four different occasions previously.
124 – South Africa’s 124-run defeat is their 4th biggest home defeat in terms of runs in ODI cricket. This is also their first 100+ runs defeat at home since 2010.
303/6 – India’s total of 303/6 is their highest in an ODI against South Africa in South Africa. Their previous highest was 279/6 in 2001 in Johannesburg.
303 – Only the 2nd time India posted 300+ in the ODI format after losing their first wicket at the score of 0. India chased down the target of 330 against Pakistan in 2012 Asia Cup after they were 0/1. Kohli recorded his highest ODI score of 183 in that game.
401 – MS Dhoni became the first Indian and the 4th wicket-keeper to affect 400 dismissals in ODI cricket. He affected a stumping and took a catch behind the stumps in this game.
