South Africa stood alive in the ODI series by keeping their unbeaten record in the Pink Jersey ODI at the Johannesburg where they defeated the visitors by five wickets in the rain-affected game. India posted 289/7 in their 50 overs with the help of Shikhar Dhawan’s hundred but the rain during South Africa’s innings reduced the target to 202 in 28 overs. The home team needed 100 runs in the last 11 overs but Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller took the game away from India by attacking the wrist spinners to register their first win in the series.

All the stats and numbers that were created during South Africa’s first win in the ODI series:

3 – Shikhar Dhawan’s hundred is the 3rd ODI ton by an Indian at Johannesburg. Sourav Ganguly (127) and Sachin Tendulkar (101) scored tons in the 2001 ODI against the home team. All the three 100s came in the losing cause.

9Shikhar Dhawan became the 9th player and the first Indian to score a century in 100th ODI game. Sourav Ganguly’s 97 is the previous highest score for an Indian in 100th ODI.

12.36 – Yuzvendra Chahal’s economy rate in this game is the 2nd worst by an Indian in an ODI. He gave away 68 runs in his 5.3 overs and took a wicket. Sourav Ganguly conceded 62 runs in his five overs at an economy of 12.4 in the 1999 Toronto ODI against Pakistan.

27 – Dhawan’s hundred is the first in 27 ODIs for India in South Africa where their opener scored a century. Sachin Tendulkar’s 152 against Namibia in the 2003 World Cup was the previous ODI ton by an Indian opener in SA.

393Virat Kohli’s 393 runs in this ODI series are the most for a player in an India-South Africa bilateral ODI series. He surpassed AB de Villiers’ tally of 358 runs in the 2015 series in India.

393 – Kohli’s 393 runs are the most by an Indian captain in a bilateral ODI series surpassing his own tally of 330 runs against Sri Lanka last year.

460 – Andile Phehlukwayo’s batting strike-rate of 460 during his 23* off five balls is the highest for any player in an International inning. (Min: 5 balls faced) Dwayne Smith scored 7-ball 29 at an S/R of 414.28 in a T20I against Bangladesh in 2007 also in Johannesburg. Sunil Narine scored a 6-ball 28 at an S/R of 400 against Australia in 2012 which is the only other ODI innings with 400+ S/R.

679 – Virat Kohli’s 679 runs on this tour are the most by an Indian captain in a single tour. Rahul Dravid aggregated 645 runs in the all formats during the 2006 Windies tour.

679 – The 679 runs by Kohli in this tour are the most for a visiting captain in a South African tour. He surpassed Brian Lara’s 627 runs that came in the 2003/04 tour.

4309 – Dhawan’s 4309 runs are the 2nd most for any player at end of 100th ODI game. Only Hashim Amla (4804) scored more than Dhawan after 100 ODIs.
