Pakistan was at their dominant best when they met Bangladesh at the Pallekele Stadium, Kandy during the 2012 World T20. The Men in Green were asked to chase a challenging 176 runs target by the Bangla tigers. Pakistan openers Mohammad Hafeez and Imran Nazir got out in the middle and hammered the Bangla bowlers to put up a massive 124 runs stand for the opening wicket. Except Shakib Al Hasan, none of the Bangladesh bowlers could bowl well and were thrashed easily by the duo. Their partnership could be broken only in the 14th over of the match after Nazir was caught by Farhad Reaza off the bowling of Abul Hasan. He departed for a blazing 72 runs from just 36 balls.

The explosive pair of Tillakaratne Dilshan and Sanath Jayasuriya teamed up together to decimate West Indies bowling attack at Nottingham during the 2009 World T20. West Indies asked Sri Lanka to bat first. Jayasuriya commenced the fireworks in the second over and started to belt fours and sixes. Dilshan, on the other hand, took a couple of over to settle in but soon after he found his rhythm in the 6th over when he brought their fifty-run stand in style with a four. The hundred-run mark was also touched in no time inside the 10th over. This time, it was Jayasuriya who hit a four to bring up the landmark. Finally, the moment of respite for the Windies team in the 13th over, after part-timer Lendl Simmons managed to trap Jayasuriya leg before to break the partnership. Indian bowlers were completely rendered ineffective by the Australian opening pair of David Warner and Shane Watson. In the 2012 edition, in the group 2 match, India had set a target of 141 runs for Australia to chase at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. This target was easily overhauled by Australia with 9 wickets in hand after Warner and Watson put together a grand 133-run stand. The right-hand left-hand duo of Andre Fletcher and Chris Gayle came out to bat and began to pummel the Australian quicks Brett Lee and Mitchell Johnson. Fletcher seemed to be more aggressive initially but the giant left-hander outclassed his peer soon. The pair had put together 133 runs for the opening wicket when Fletcher (53 from 32 balls) departed in the 12th over a ball after completing is half century. The India v England fixtures at Kingsmead Durban in the inaugural edition will always be remembered for Yuvraj Singh’s six sixes. But, the match also witnessed a brilliant opening stand between Virender Sehwag (58 from 41 balls) and Gautam Gambhir (68 from 52 balls). India chose to bat after winning the toss and the Delhi duo came out to bat both of them batted with authority and went on to pile 136 runs for the first wicket. The Bangladeshi bowlers received a total hammering when they met Pakistan at the Beausejour Stadium, Gros Islet during the 2010 edition. Pakistan elected to bat first after winning the toss. Tillakaratne Dilshan and Mahela Jayawardene enjoyed batting against the toothless English bowlers and totally dominated them to weave an entertaining 145 runs partnership for the 2nd wicket. Batting first against England in the Group stages of the 2014 World T20, The Lankans lost Kusal Perera early. But Dilshan and Jayawardene batted sturdily and ensured a formidable total of 189/4 after 20 overs. The pair could be separated in the 17th over of the match after Jayawardene (89 from 51 balls) was clean bowled by Chris Jordan ending the 145 runs stand. Dilshan (55 from 47 balls) also followed him in the next over after getting caught by Jordan off the bowling of Jade Dernbach. The pair entertained the crowd hitting 15 fours and 5 sixes during their stay.

This match was a Chris Gayle special which would be remembered for his one-man show against hosts South Africa in the inaugural World T20 at Johannesburg. Gayle pummeled a wonderful 117 from just 57 balls to completely defuse the hosts, helping West Indies score 205 batting first. Dwayne Smith (35 from 34 balls) batted calmly and enjoyed the Jamaican giant’s knock as he tore apart the Proteas bowling attack. Amid all the fireworks, the openers had also stitched a 145-run stand for the first wicket. The partnership came to an end after Smith was dismissed in the 14th over by Vernon Philander. The amazing stand was laced with 11 mammoth sixes and 10 fours, out of which Gayle credited 10 sixes and 7 fours.

The Lankans batted first and piled up 189/4 after 20 overs in the first innings. Nuwan Kulasekara dented the chase after dismissing Michael Lumb and no.3 Moeen Ali in the 1st over. But, Alex Hales and skipper Eoin Morgan then teamed up together and ransacked the Lankan bowling attack to hit a match-winning stand of 152 runs and snatch a convincing victory in the high-scoring game. But Dilshan and Jayawardene batted sturdily and ensured a formidable total of 189/4 after 20 overs. The pair could be separated in the 17th over of the match after Jayawardene (89 from 51 balls) was clean bowled by Chris Jordan ending the 145 runs stand. Dilshan (55 from 47 balls) also followed him in the next over after getting caught by Jordan off the bowling of Jade Dernbach. <p>This match was a Chris Gayle special which would be remembered for his one-man show against hosts South Africa in the inaugural World T20 at Johannesburg. Gayle pummeled a wonderful 117 from just 57 balls to completely defuse the hosts, helping West Indies score 205 batting first. Dwayne Smith (35 from 34 balls) batted calmly and enjoyed the Jamaican giant’s knock as he tore apart the Proteas bowling attack. Amid all the fireworks, the openers had also stitched a 145-run&nbsp;stand for the first wicket. The partnership came to an end after Smith was dismissed in the 14th over by Vernon Philander. The amazing stand was laced with 11 mammoth sixes and 10 fours, out of which Gayle credited 10 sixes and 7 fours.</p>

Batting first at the Kensington Oval, Barbados, the hosts failed to capitalize on the early fall of Sanath Jayasuriya and let the Jayawardene-Sangakkara pair take hold of the match. <p>Pakistan was at their dominant best when they met Bangladesh at the Pallekele Stadium, Kandy during the 2012 World T20. The Men in Green were asked to chase a challenging 176 runs target by the Bangla tigers. Pakistan openers Mohammad Hafeez and Imran Nazir got out in the middle and hammered the Bangla bowlers to put up a massive 124 runs stand for the opening wicket. Except Shakib Al Hasan, none of the Bangladesh bowlers could bowl well and were thrashed easily by the duo. Their partnership could be broken only in the 14th over of the match after Nazir was caught by Farhad Reaza off the bowling of Abul Hasan. He departed for a blazing 72 runs from just 36 balls.</p>

<p>The explosive pair of Tillakaratne Dilshan and Sanath Jayasuriya teamed up together to decimate West Indies bowling attack at Nottingham during the 2009 World T20. West Indies asked Sri Lanka to bat first. Jayasuriya commenced the fireworks in the second over and started to belt fours and sixes. Dilshan, on the other hand, took a couple of over to settle in but soon after he found his rhythm in the 6th over when he brought their fifty-run stand in style with a four. The hundred-run mark was also touched in no time inside the 10th over. This time, it was Jayasuriya who hit a four to bring up the landmark. Finally, the moment of respite for the Windies team in the 13th over, after part-timer Lendl Simmons managed to trap Jayasuriya leg before to break the partnership. The pair put up 124 runs for the first wicket with the Matara Mauler contributing 81 runs off just 47 balls.</p>

<p>Indian bowlers were completely rendered ineffective by the Australian opening pair of David Warner and Shane Watson. In the 2012 edition, in the group 2 match, India had set a target of 141 runs for Australia to chase at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. This target was easily overhauled by Australia with 9 wickets in hand after Warner and Watson put together a grand 133-run stand. India had used 8 bowlers in the match but no one could affect the duo’s run scoring. The pair missed out on doing their job themselves after Yuvraj Singh managed to get better of Shane Watson in the 14 overs of the match to break the partnership.</p>

<p>Australia after a dismal start had set a challenging target of 170 for the West Indies to chase. The right-hand left-hand duo of Andre Fletcher and Chris Gayle came out to bat and began to pummel the Australian quicks Brett Lee and Mitchell Johnson. Fletcher seemed to be more aggressive initially but the giant left-hander outclassed his peer soon. The pair had put together 133 runs for the opening wicket when Fletcher (53 from 32 balls) departed in the 12th over a ball after completing is half century. Together they cracked 7 sixes and 13 fours and made the chase look very easy. An over later, Gayle was dismissed by Brett lee after making 88 from 50 balls. <p>The India v England fixtures at Kingsmead Durban in the inaugural edition will always be remembered for Yuvraj Singh’s six sixes. But, the match also witnessed a brilliant opening stand between Virender Sehwag (58 from 41 balls) and Gautam Gambhir (68 from 52 balls). India chose to bat after winning the toss and the Delhi duo came out to bat both of them batted with authority and went on to pile 136 runs for the first wicket. The bowling attack led by Andrew Flintoff was ineffective in countering the pair who dealt mostly in boundaries and sixes that day.
