The explosive pair of Tillakaratne Dilshan and Sanath Jayasuriya teamed up together to decimate West Indies bowling attack at Nottingham during the 2009 World T20. West Indies asked Sri Lanka to bat first. Jayasuriya commenced the fireworks in the second over and started to belt fours and sixes. Dilshan, on the other hand, took a couple of over to settle in but soon after he found his rhythm in the 6th over when he brought their fifty-run stand in style with a four. The hundred-run mark was also touched in no time inside the 10th over. This time, it was Jayasuriya who hit a four to bring up the landmark. Finally, the moment of respite for the Windies team in the 13th over, after part-timer Lendl Simmons managed to trap Jayasuriya leg before to break the partnership. The pair put up 124 runs for the first wicket with the Matara Mauler contributing 81 runs off just 47 balls.
