"I've been working hard on it over the last few seasons. In case I miss out with the bat I can still give something to the team with the ball or in the field," he quoted.

Australian batsman Travis Head is optimistic about the chances of the Australian team in the upcoming edition of the Champions Trophy. On the personal front, Head is confident of coming up with improved performances in the mega event. The Australian team will play a couple of warm-up matches before heading into the tournament proper that commences on June 1 with England taking on Bangladesh in the opener.

As per the recent quotes in Cricbuzz, Travis Head spoke at length about how he wishes to contribute to the team in the upcoming tournament. In the Australian summer, he hammered a ton while opening for the team. He was phenomenal in the middle order too. Now, he is hoping to continue on the good run in his first appearance in a mega ICC event.

“I’m hopeful, I finished well at the end of the Australian summer … this is my first time at a big tournament and I am looking forward to it. I feel my game is suited to batting anywhere from one to six. It’s just a case of getting the opportunity and doing my best to stay in the team,” he quoted.

Elaborating further, he cited that he has been quite consistent with the bat in the recent times. Even in the IPL this year, he was the solitary bright spot for Royal Challengers Bangalore with consistent shows. He wishes to score well and retain his place in the side.

“I’ve been pretty consistent since I started and that is all you can ask for. I wanted to get that big score out of the way. If I can keep doing that and playing good cricket then I will keep my place in the team,” quoted Travis Head.

On his bowling

Another aspect of the game that has improved drastically for Head has been his spin bowling. He noted that he is not in the squad primarily as a bowler. However, if the team needs his help in that department, he is willing to chip in with a few overs and get the job done for the team.

“I’ve been working hard on it over the last few seasons. In case I miss out with the bat I can still give something to the team with the ball or in the field. So if it’s needed throughout the tournament … I’m not going to be out there to win games of cricket with my bowling, but if I can do a job for the team and get them to that position, then that’s fantastic,” noted Head.
