The third game of the second edition of the T10 League saw Bengal Tigers and Northern Warriors locking horns in Sharjah. The Tigers roared vociferously with the bat after losing the toss thanks to an exceptional partnership between Jason Roy and Sherfane Rutherford. Sunil Narine, however, continued to fade away as the opening batsman and could only score 15 runs after facing a massive 13 balls.

After Narine’s dismissal, Roy needed someone to partner him and play at similar pace in order to post a competitive total on the board. Sherfane Rutherford didn’t disappoint him and together, the duo ripped apart the bowling attack of the Warriors. They took a special liking towards the opposition skipper Andre Russell and Ravi Bopara who conceded 32 and 35 runs respectively in their two overs.

They didn’t get out until the end as they added 87 runs in 35 balls together as the Tigers posted 130 runs on the board for the loss only a solitary wicket after 10 overs. Roy remained unbeaten on 60 off just 29 balls with six fours and three massive maximums to his name while his partner Rutherford smashed 47 off 21 deliveries and send the ball to the boundary eight times.

Aamer Yamin picks a sensational double hat-trick

The Warriors needed a quickfire start from their Windies openers Lendl Simmons and Dwayne Smith. Instead the opening duo took a lot of time to get going and could only score 18 runs in the first three powerplay overs. The game was probably over there itself as Smith lost his wicket in trying to up the ante. Narine sent back Russell off the very first ball and since then it was all one-way traffic.

The wickets kept on falling even as Simmons got into his groove albiet a little too late. He raced his way to 44 runs off 27 balls after a slow start to bring the equation down to 50 off 12 balls. With the way, the bowlers are being taken apart these days, it didn’t look impossible. However, Aamer Yamin had other ideas. He had conceded only four runs in his first over and needed to bowl well to win the game for his team.

He did more than what was expected was of him and snaffled four wickets off four deliveries. He sent back the likes of Simmons, Rovman Powell, Ravi Bopara and Hardus Viljoen back to the hut to seal a victory for his side. He also didn’t concede even a run in the over to deliver a match-winning spell of 2-1-4-4 for his side.
