Watch: Team India celebrate Anil Kumble’s birthday

Team India head coach Anil Kumble turned 46 recently. The Indian team gave a good gift to Kumble a day before his birthday. India beat New Zealand in the first ODI after putting up a clinical display. Soon after the game, the players had more celebrations lined up for the coach. The players celebrated Kumble’s birthday in the dressing room. It was all joyous scenes with the players having their share of fun.

Anil Kumble cut the cake and the players took very little time to get in the action. India’s Test captain Virat Kohli led the way as he put the cake on Kumble’s face. The cake had a bat impression on it with the caption ‘Happy birthday Anil’. ODI skipper MS Dhoni looked calm as usual and wished Kumble. Kohli could be evidently seen very happy and the most animated one.

Amit Mishra and Kedar Jadhav were not far behind in applying the cake to Kumble’s face. Anil Kumble, the leading wicket taker for India in Tests, showed thumbs up and acknowledged the greetings from the players. Later in the day, it was Ravichandran Ashwin who took to the social media to post the video. Ashwin took to the micro-blogging site Twitter to post the video of the celebrations.

Ashwin also added a caption that all efforts from Kumble went in vain to avoid the cake attack on him. He mentioned that the efforts to prevent Ashwin from plotting all this was just not good enough. He tweeted, “@BCCI @anilkumble1074 @imVkohli @coach_rsridhar @msdhoni @ImRo45 United we stood , despite you managing to thwart me away.”

Ashwin also wished Kumble on Twitter. In a very friendly tweet, the leading off-spinner wrote, “Many more happy returns of the day @anilkumble1074 .Hope to see a picture of you with cake spread all over. @imVkohli @coach_rsridhar.”
