Virat Kohli continued to break records on day 2 of the first Test as well. His double century and Ravi Ashwin’s century helped India post a huge total of 566/8 before they declared. Amit Mishra chipped in with a fifty as well. West Indies survived the initial charge by the Indian pacers before Rajesh Chandrika edged one off Mohammad Shami and finishing the day 2 at 31/1. Here we look at all the stats recorded during Day 2 play.

0.081 – Virat Kohli’s conversion ratio of 100s to 150s in International cricket is the 3rd lowest for any player with more than 20 tons.

1 – Virat Kohli is now the first Indian captain to score a double century outside India. Mohammad Azharuddin’s 192 in 1990 was the previous highest by an Indian captain away home.

2 – Virat Kohli became the 2nd Asian captain to score a double century outside the sub-continent. Marvan Attapatu was the other player as he scored 249 vs Zimbabwe in 2004 at Bulawayo.

3 – Ravi Ashwin is one of the three spin bowlers to pick 175+ wickets and score 3+ centuries in Test cricket. Richie Benaud and Daniel Vettori are the other two.

6 – Number of consecutive fifty plus stands India had in this innings. They had fifty stands for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th wickets. This is only the 3rd instance in Test cricket where 6 consecutive fifty plus stands have been recorded in an innings. Australia v WI in 1960, Sri Lanka v India in 2008 and Pakistan v Bangladesh in 2015 are the other three instances.

27y 259d – Virat Kohli became the youngest captain to score a Test double century in West Indies. He overtook D Atkinson who did it in 28y 278d (Age at the start of the game).

36 – Number of centuries Virat Kohli has scored in International cricket before hitting a double century, the joint 3rd most by any player. Jacques Kallis (54) and Sachin Tendulkar (49) are the two at the top. Sourav Ganguly (36) took the same number of innings.

65 – Number of consecutive dot balls Umesh Yadav has bowled in Test cricket till his 3rd over. He bowled 47 dot balls including 7 maidens in his last outing before coming into this game.

113 – Ravi Ashwin’s 113 is now the 3rd highest score by an Indian in his maiden Test innings in West Indies. He is now the 4th Indian to score a century in his maiden Test innings in West Indies.

158 – Virat Kohli’s 200 is now the highest score in maiden Test innings for a captain in West Indies. He overhauled Ricky Ponting’s 158.

200 – Virat Kohli’s 200 is his highest score in first-class cricket. His previous highest was 197 vs SNGPL for Delhi in 2008.

566/8 – India’s total of 566/8 is their 2nd highest Test total in West Indies. This is also the highest total in Tests at North Sound, Antigua.

2006 – Last time an Indian scored a double century outside Asia was Wasim Jaffer in 2006 at St. John’s.

2009 – Last time India scored 500+ outside Asia was in 2009 vs New Zealand in Hamilton in March 2009.

2011 – Last time India declared their innings outside Asia in Test cricket (Excluding instances where declared for draw) was in 2011 vs West Indies at Bridgetown. The last time India declared their first innings outside Asia was way back in 2006 also vs West Indies at Gros Islet.
