42-year old talisman and Pakistan Test match skipper Misbah-ul-Haq has had an interesting year with both bat and ball for Pakistan. Whilst starting the season with some impressive performances in terms of leadership with a successful tour of England, the year concluded with a massive drubbing down-under. Misbah also oversaw Pakistan reaching the top of the summit when it came to the number one ranking, something that was taken away by India shortly after.

Speaking about the same, Misbah went on to compare both India and Pakistan. This comparison led to the Indians being unbeatable in Test matches at home, something the 42-year old was quick to point out. However, he also went on to add that the same could indeed be said for Pakistan as well. The only issue was the fact that they had played an amazing amount of cricket overseas.

“Look at India they’re number one because no one can beat them in India. No credit should be taken away from Pakistan too”, he said.

He was also quick to lash out at the Pakistan Cricket Board stating that whoever came into the grand scheme of things would find it incredibly difficult as well. He also added that the talent in Pakistan was simply not there due to the structure in which the domestic cricket is formulated. “Whoever the Pakistan Cricket Board appoints as captain will face problems”, he added. “We are not producing talented players in Pakistan because the structure is flawed”, said the veteran Pakistan batsman.

He concluded by finally speaking about his retirement plans. “I wanted to retire but everyone said stay for Aus & NZ tours, but now they’re saying I should be ashamed of myself & leave cricket”, said Misbah.
