The six teams battled out each other on the fourth day of the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup T20 and all the teams have now played four games each. With one more game to go for each team, the top two spots are up for grabs. India, Pakistan and Bangladesh will battle hard to get there while Sri Lanka also has a sleek chance.

However, with the kind of cricket Malaysia Women have been playing, it will be a cakewalk for Bangladesh to get through. India will play Pakistan on June 9 and the winner of this game will proceed straight to the final. Given these equations, it is quite evident that Sri Lanka will be out of the race until some miracles happen. Here is how things progressed on the fourth day.

Bangladesh Women vs Thailand Women, 10th Match

Bangladesh Women faced the Thailand Women in the 10th match of the Women’s Asia Cup. After winning the toss, Bangladesh opted to field first. Thailand team hasn’t been consistent with the bat and their flaws were yet again exposed. In their quota of 20 overs, they only managed to score 60 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Only three batters managed to reach the double figures with Nattaya Boochatham being the highest scorer with 15. The skipper Salma Khatun picked 2 wickets while conceding only 6 runs.

Bangladesh, coming back after defeating India looked very confident in the chase. They got there in 11.1 overs with 9 wickets to spare. Ayasha Rahman and Nigar Sultana scored 25 each off 28 balls to ensure a victory for the team. Chanida Sutthiruang was the only wicket-taker for Thailand in the game.

Pakistan Women vs Malaysia Women, 11th Match

A game with the Malaysia Women has turned out to be one where teams are focussing on increasing their NRR and so were Pakistan. After being invited to bat first, Pakistan Women scored 177 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. Bismah Maroof and Nida Dar were the chief architects of the innings. Maroof scored 62 while Dar scored 41. Sana Mir provided the team with the final flourish as she smashed 14 off 7.

Malaysian team couldn’t cross 50 with the bat this time either. They were bowled out for 30 within 19 overs. Only two batters managed to cross the 5-run mark showing their plight. Nida Dar who was spectacular with the bat also performed exceedingly well with the ball. She picked 4 wickets helping Pakistan bag a 147-run victory.

India Women vs Sri Lanka Women, 12th Match

After losing their first ever game in the Asia Cup history to Bangladesh, India made a strong comeback in this game. Sri Lanka opted to bat first and yet again, their middle order was exposed. Opener Y Mendis scored 27 while Hasini Perera remained unbeaten on 46. There were no other significant contributions from the middle order as they posted an underwhelming score of 107 runs. Ekta Bisht picked 2 wickets in the innings.

Chasing 108, India lost Smriti Mandhana early. She hasn’t had a great tournament thus far. Mithali Raj scored 23 while the skipper Harmanpreet Kaur scored 24 runs as the runs were not coming freely. Veda Krishnamurthy with 29 runs and Anuja Patil with 19 runs finished the game for India handing them a 7-wicket victory. Osadi Ranasinghe picked 1 wicket while conceding 15 runs in the three overs she bowled.
