Pakistan is all set to face Zimbabwe in the third ODI of the five-match series on Wednesday. They are leading by 2-0 and would be looking to seal the deal with yet another clinical performance. However, they have dealt with a blow ahead of the game as Haris Sohail has left the team midway through the tour due to his daughter’s illness.
He didn’t get an opportunity in the first couple of One-Day Internationals but the skipper Sarfraz Ahmed had indicated that they will test their bench strength going forward in the series. The left-hander was with the squad in the T20I tri-series as well and played in the two matches without making much of the contribution.
He could only score 16 runs including the golden duck in one of the games while opening the innings for his team. Eventually, he was dropped for the final against Australia and was also benched for the first two ODIs against the home side.
No replacement named
Zainab Abbas, the sports anchor of Dunya News, confirmed the news of Haris Sohail leaving Pakistan team due to his daughter’s illness on her official Twitter handle. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not named any replacement for him and it seems that they will go ahead with the trimmed squad for the remaining three One-Day Internationals.
It is very much possible that the Men in Green might go for the kill and whitewash the hapless home side who are playing without some of their gun players. Also, the likes of Mohammad Hafeez, Yasir Shah, Junaid Khan are yet to get a game in this series and the changes might be done if they manage to seal the series in the third game itself.
As of now, Hasan Ali seems doubtful for the game as he injured his neck during his celebration after taking a wicket in the second ODI.
Haris Sohail has been sent home due to his daughters illness.Prayers for him and his daughters recovery. No replacement player has been called up. #ZIMvPAK
