3. Virender Sehwag 219 (149 balls) vs West Indies in 2011

Virender Sehwag during his playing days was renowned for playing in a fierce style. In ODIs, he achieved a lot with his class batting, but in 2011, by scoring a double-hundred against the West Indies, he added another feather to his illustrious cap.

Locking horns with the Windies in the fourth ODI in Indore, the Men in Blue were looking to seal the five-match series after winning the first two games. After winning the toss in the match, India batted first and delivered a humongous target of 419 to the opponents with Sehwag’s explosive knock of 219 runs off 149 balls, which included 25 fours and seven sixes.

While achieving the stellar record, he dominated the West Indian bowlers and breached the double-hundred mark off just 140 deliveries. At the end of the game, he also received the Player of the Match award for his memorable innings, which helped India pummel the visitors by 153 runs.
