As the IPL 2024 auction is imminent, all cricket fans are eager to know the potential players who can grab lucrative contracts. Several news reports have recently revealed that more than 1100 players have registered for the upcoming business event.
In the recently concluded 2023 World Cup, some bowlers did their jobs exceptionally, and now they are the favourites to cause bidding battles among the franchises and fetch huge prices in the massive auction to be held in Dubai on December 19, 2023.
Here are five bowlers who might receive big money in the 2024 IPL auction
5. Pat Cummins
After staying away from the 2023 edition of the IPL, the Australia One-Day International (ODI) and Test skipper Pat Cummins’ name is expected to be announced in the upcoming auction. The Australia pacer guided his side to a scintillating title victory in the 2023 World Cup.
In the marquee ODI tournament, he grabbed 15 wickets in 11 matches at an economy of 5.75. Back in the 2020 IPL auction, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) spent INR 14 crores to reserve his services for the next two seasons. This time, Cummins might get good money again because of his current form.
Talking about his IPL performance, the speedster has picked up 45 wickets in 42 matches at an economy of 8.54. In 2022, he slammed a 14-ball fifty against Mumbai Indians (MI) and broke into the record books for hitting the joint-fastest half-century in the league along with KL Rahul. The record was later shattered after Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 13-delivery fifty against KKR in 2023.
