Well, the Indian Premier League (IPL) caravan is moving faster now. Every match is important with the league phase reaching its business end. The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will be hosting the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the match 38 of the tournament and both the teams are, at the moment, sailing in the same boat. They cannot afford to have a bad day in the near future having botched up a few crucial matches recently.

As for the home team, they continue to be over-reliant on their openers David Warner and Jonny Bairstow. The skipper Kane Williamson hasn’t found his last season-like touch yet and it is important that he regains his form quickly. SRH have been struggling with their other spin option this year with Shahbaz Nadeem not delivering as expected. The pacers though have come back well after the early blip and should deliver the goods in this game.

The KKR, to be fair, are in complete tatters at the moment. They are very very heavily dependent on Andre Russell and the Caribbean, despite being injured, is playing rather every game. Russell’s wrist is not in good shape it seems and he looked in pain after hitting every six during the game against RCB. The bowling attack hasn’t been great either and sticking to the same lot is not working for them this season.

Pitch Report

The Hyderabad pitch has changed drastically over the last few matches. It has been slow and low and with the afternoon start to the game, things might not change. Rather with the sun beating down, it might get tougher to bat as the game progresses. Both the teams should look to bat first after winning the toss and make full use of the powerplay.

Weather Conditions

SRH and KKR will lock horns in the scorching heat in Hyderabad when the temperature will be hovering in the mid-30s. It won’t be humid and even dew won’t play a huge part in the game. There is no rain in the forecast as well according to AccuWeather.

SRH were decent in their previous game against the CSK. They bowled well to restrict the opposition and then chased the total down comfortably in the end. Though Williamson and Shankar failed, Deepak Hooda walked in and played a responsible knock which means there is still no place for Manish Pandey in the playing XI. Shahbaz Nadeem will get another opportunity with five right-handers in KKR’s top seven.

Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR have no option but to stick to the same players with the trimmed squad they possess. There seemed to be a problem with Russell’s wrist but the Caribbean manages to get fit just in time for the game. Kuldeep Yadav though might get a break after the hammering in the previous outing after which he broke down as well. KC Cariappa is waiting in the wings and might play this game.

Also, Robin Uthappa has to bat at number three no matter what is the situation of the game. He looked completely out of sorts at four against RCB. The veteran has amassed 1363 runs in 48 innings with nine half-centuries at an impeccable strike-rate of over 140 while batting at first drop.
