One of the finest top-order batters in the country, Mayank Agarwal has done well across all formats of the game. In the 2021 edition of the tournament, he slammed 441 runs in 12 innings at 40.09, with four fifties, and emerged as the Punjab Kings‘ second-highest run-scorer.

Taking into account the performances of the 2021 and the previous editions, Agarwal was retained and was chosen as a leader of the team for IPL 2022. However, he has been able to score only 195 runs in 12 innings at 17.73, which has resulted in the team’s average performance this season.

Due to the bad form, the experienced campaigner changed his position and came lower down the order as well, but has been unable to trouble the scores of the team. The performances in the ongoing season might keep him out of the contention for the spot in the Indian team as well.
