Preview

Bangladesh A will lock horns with India A in the second semi-final match of the ACC Men’s Emerging Cup 2023 at the R Premdasa Stadium in Colombo on July 21. Bangladesh have played three matches in the league stage, and with two wins, they finished in second position in Group A. India A, on the other hand, has dominated the tournament so far, winning all three matches and finishing at the top of the table in Group B.

Bangladesh A had played against Afghanistan A in their last match, where Bangladesh A had won the toss and elected to bat. Bangladesh started explosively, but that did not last long and looked to be in some trouble being three at 34. That is when they had two back-to-back brilliant partnerships, putting them ahead in the game. They posted a strong total of 308 runs for the loss of seven wickets after the end of the first innings. Afghanistan started well, with all their batters looking good. They kept losing wickets at crucial places, and after one point, they had too many batters to chase this total down. Bangladesh A won the match by 21 runs in the end.

India A had squared off against Pakistan A in their last match, where Pakistan A won the toss and elected to bat. Choosing to bat did not particularly go in their favour, with two of their top three batters getting out on duck. Some of their batters in the middle order did play some good shots but kept losing wickets at regular intervals. They could only muster 205 runs on the board. India did not take it too loose and kept their aggression. All of their batters looked good, especially centurion Sai Sudharsan who was awarded Player of the Match for his innings. India A won the match emphatically by eight wickets with more than 13 overs to spare.
