T20 World Cup: Shakib Al Hasan not happy with umpires signalling no-ball after Virat Kohli's gestures

Virat Kohli’s 64 off 44 balls against Bangladesh on Wednesday, November 2, made him the leading run-scorer in the history of the T20 World Cup but the former Indian captain left opposition leader Shakib Al Hasan really disappointed with his gesture to the umpire during the last ball of the sixteenth over.

Virat Kohli couldn’t connect with Hasan Mahmud’s short-ball delivery as he immediately asked the umpire for a possible wide, which didn’t go well with the Bangladesh captain. Running towards him, Shakib had a word with the former India captain before the two laughed it off and went back to their respective spots.

Perhaps in the same over, the pacer had bowled a bouncer already and the one which Kohli faced was a second bouncer of the over. Rightfully, the Indian batter asked for a no-ball and the umpires eventually took a right decision. Probably, Shakib wasn't happy as the umpires signalled the no-ball after Kohli gestured for the same.

India defeated Bangladesh by 5 runs to move closer to the semis of T20 World Cup

Despite Bangladesh’s brilliant start in the second innings, the Indian bowlers managed to pull back strings in the middle overs. Courtesy of some brilliant bowling by Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya, team India managed to defeat Bangladesh by 5 runs to win their third match of the Super 12 and eventually went closer to the semi-final of the T20 World Cup.

In a rain-affected match, Bangladesh were given a target of 151 runs from 16 overs which they failed to chase. Litton Das gave the team a blistering start but with his dismissal, the team looked in all sorts of trouble. Nurul Hasan with his 25 off 14 played a brilliant cameo in the end but it wasn’t enough.

The Indian bowlers maintained their line, length and discipline towards the end as their fielding played a massive role against Bangladesh. This is one area that the Indian team had to improve after the South Africa game and the Indian boys eventually did. After a match-winning worthy knock with the bat, KL Rahul was brilliant in the field as his direct throw dismissed the dangerous Litton Das right after the play resumed after rain.

India will next challenge Zimbabwe on November 6 at Melbourne Cricket Ground while Bangladesh will next face Paksitan at Adelaide Oval.
