India demolished the home team to take a 2-0 lead in the 6-match ODI series as the wrist spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav shared eight wickets between them. South Africa could only manage 118 runs on the board which turned out to be their lowest ODI total at home all thanks to Chahal’s maiden ODI 5-fer and Kuldeep. India chased down the small target in just 20.3 overs for the loss of Rohit Sharma’s wicket.

All the stats and numbers that were recorded during India’s thumping win in Centurion:

1 – Yuzvendra Chahal became the first wrist spinner to take a 5-wicket haul in the ODI format on the South African soil. Imran Tahir’s 4/28 against Windies in 2015 are the previous best figures for a wrist spinner in South Africa.

Check out all stats from Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav performance

1 – Number of extras India conceded in South Africa’s innings. This is the first time India conceded one or fewer extra runs in a completed team inning in ODI cricket. India conceded two extras against New Zealand (103) in Chennai 2010 and against Windies (215) in Delhi 2014.

118 – South Africa’s total of 118 in this game is their lowest in an ODI at home surpassing 119/10 that came against England in the 2009 Port Elizabeth ODI. This is also South Africa’s 2nd lowest ODI total against India behind the 117/10 in 1999 Nairobi ODI.

118 – The 118/10 by South Africa is also the lowest total in an ODI in Centurion. Zimbabwe were bowled out for 119 against South Africa in 2009 at this venue.

118/10 – South Africa’s 118 is the 5th lowest total for a home team against India in ODI format. Bangladesh were bowled out for 58 and 76 respectively in 2014 and 2003 while Zimbabwe in 2005 and Australia in 1991 were cleaned up at home by India for 65 and 101 respectively.

177 – South Africa’s defeat in this game is their biggest at home in the ODI format. Australia defeated the home team by five wickets and 153 balls to spare in the 2000 Cape Town ODI.

177 – India’s win with 177 balls to spare in this game is their 2nd biggest ODI victory against a full member nation. India defeated Sri Lanka in the 2005 Mohali ODI with 178 balls to spare.

1623 – Runs aggregated by Virat Kohli in this 2017/18 season so far across formats. These are the most number of runs for an Indian captain in an International season surpassing Rahul Dravid’s tally of 1609 in the 2005/06 season.
