The 33rd week of 2017 witnessed the Test series between Sri Lanka and India coming to an end and the first ever day/night Test match in England. This was also the first D/N Test for England while the NatWest T20 Blast continued to produce some huge totals and blistering innings during the week.

Here we look at the major records and stats created during the 33rd week of 2017.

1 – India’s whitewash against Sri Lanka is their first in a three or match Test series outside the home. They affected whitewash in a couple of 2-match series in Bangladesh and Zimbabwe previously.

3 – Hardik Pandya became the 3rd Indian after Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni to hit a hat-trick of sixes in Test cricket. He is the 13th player overall to hit three or more sixes in consecutive balls in Test cricket.

11 – Joe Root became only the 6th player to record fifty-plus scores in 11 or more consecutive Test matches. He is the first one from England to achieve this feat.

26 – Hardik Pandya scored 26 runs in an over off Malinda Pushpakumara in Pallekele Test; the joint 3rd most runs scored by anyone and the most by any Indian in a single over in Test cricket.

77 – Runs Ben Sanderson of Northamptonshire conceded in his four overs against Yorkshire; the 2nd most by any player in a T20 game. Sarmad Anwar conceded 81 runs in a Pakistan domestic T20 game in 2011.

107 – Hardik Pandya became the first Indian to score 100 runs in a session before Lunch in Test cricket. He scored 107 on the 2nd day of the Pallekele Test.

161 – Adam Lyth’s 161 is the 3rd highest individual score in Twenty20 cricket behind Chris Gayle’s 175* and Hamilton Masakadza’s 162*.

207 – Partnership stand between Joe Denly and Daniel Bell-Drummond for Kent against Essex is the highest opening stand in Twenty20 history. They broke Jamie How and Peter Ingram’s 201-run opening stand, recorded in the New Zealand domestic T20 in 2012.

260/4 – Yorkshire’s total of 260/4 against Northamptonshire is the joint 2nd highest total in Twenty20 history behind RCB (in IPL 2013) and Australia (in a T20I in 2016) 263/5 and 263/3 respectively. 6063 – Alastair Cook became the first player to score 6000 runs in England in Test cricket. He became the leading run-getter in Tests in England during his 243-run knock by going past Graham Gooch’s 5917 runs.
