Jason Krejza was chosen ahead of Stuart Clark for the deciding Test match against India in Nagpur in 2008 and had an impressive debut. He took 8 wickets and became one of very few bowlers to have taken 8 or more wickets in an innings of a Test match. At the same time, he took those wickets for 215 runs and conceded more runs than anyone else. Ultimately, he took total 12 wickets in his debut match for 358 runs.

Kreza was given preference majorly due to his solid showing for his state Tasmania, having picked 18 wickets at 47.11 from 7 matches.  He was then dropped for the next Test match against New Zealand in Australia as the pitch would prefer the seamers. He was recalled in the next Test match but missed it due to injury and eventually played the first Test in Australia against South Africa which was his second and last test match.

Jason Kreza made his ODI debut in 2011 against England in Perth. This was because of the unavailability of the spinners, Nathan Hauritz and Steve Smith. He took two wickets and scored 6 in his first one-day appearance. Jason was also named in the Australian squad for 2011 World Cup.
