Sunrisers Hyderabad began their 2018 IPL campaign with a resounding 9-wicket win over the Rajasthan Royals at their home ground. An all-round bowling performance from SRH restricted Royals to just 125/9 in 20 overs. Sanju Samson’s 49 was the only contribution came in with the bat for the team returning to the league after two years. Shikhar Dhawan’s unbeaten 57-ball 77 and skipper Kane Williamson’s 35-ball 36 guided SRH home with 25 balls to spare.

0 – Number of sixes during the Rajasthan Royals innings. They hit 12 fours but no sixes during their innings that lasted 20 overs. The first six off the game came in the 3rd over of the SRH innings.


3 – This was only the 3rd man of the match award for Shikhar Dhawan in the IPL for SRH. He won the man of the match award in the 2013 and 2017 seasons for his fifties against Mumbai Indians at the RGIC Stadium in Hyderabad.


5Ajinkya Rahane became the 5th player to captain Rajasthan Royals in the IPL while Kane Williamson became the 6th captain for SRH in the league. This was also the first match as a captain for Williamson in the IPL.


9 – Sunrisers Hyderabad’s 9-wicket win is their 3rd win in the IPL by nine and more wickets. They defeated Gujarat Lions by ten wickets in the 2016 game in Rajkot and by nine wickets also against the Gujarat franchise in the last year’s home game.


14 – The 121-run stand between Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson is the 14th 100-run partnership in the IPL for SRH for any wicket but only the 2nd not to include David Warner. Dhawan and Williamson pair added 136 at this venue against DD during the last season also for the 2nd wicket.


150Yusuf Pathan became the 7th player to feature in 150 games in the IPL. He made his debut for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in this game having played for RR and KKR in the last decade.
